Stranger Things actress Sadie Sink has revealed that keeping the plot of the Netflix show's final season under wraps was relatively easy, because she is guarding even bigger secrets from her upcoming role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
From Hawkins to the MCU
In a new interview, Sink, who plays Max Mayfield in the hit sci-fi series, expressed relief as the final episodes are released. The penultimate volume of season five landed on 26 December, with the three-part finale set for release on New Year's Eve. "It'll be nice once it's all finally out there and I never have to keep a secret about Stranger Things again," she told The Hollywood Reporter.
However, the actress is now sitting on major spoilers for Spider-Man: Brand New Day, the fourth film starring Tom Holland as Peter Parker. Sink's casting was first reported by Deadline in March, though her role remains officially unconfirmed. "I'd an amazing time working on that film. I can't wait to talk about it more," she said. "That's why I feel like keeping Stranger Things secrets are kind of easy because I have so many Spider-Man secrets I'm sitting on that feel even more secretive."
A Full-Circle Moment for the Star
Sink described joining the Spider-Man franchise as a "full-circle" moment, mirroring her experience of being a fan before joining Stranger Things. "I love Tom's Spider-Man, especially," she shared. The connection goes deeper, as she previously worked with the film's director, Dustin Daniel Kretten, on one of her first movies at age 14.
Fan speculation about her Marvel character has run rampant online, especially after sightings of her on set in a bulky costume with her signature red hair visible. "A lot of people forget that hair colour can change," Sink told Entertainment Weekly last month, amused by the theories. "People will just have to wait and see.
