Virgin Island's Millie has disclosed an unexpected prior television appearance that may ring a bell for viewers. The 22-year-old theatre usher from Dudley is one of 12 adult virgins participating in a unique intimacy course on the Channel 4 reality series. However, some audiences might recognise her from the opening credits of BBC's consumer watchdog programme, Rip Off Britain.
Millie's Surprising TV Debut
Speaking exclusively to the Mirror ahead of the season's premiere, Millie revealed that she was featured in the title sequence of Rip Off Britain when she was approximately 10 years old. The show, hosted by Angela Rippon, Gloria Hunniford, and Julia Somerville, investigates and resolves viewer complaints about scams and poor service. Millie explained: "When I was younger I was used for the opening credits for Rip Off Britain... We went and watched it at a place near me, and they've just recorded me and kept using me." She added that people still occasionally recognise her from the segment, and she embraces it, saying, "I was like 'You know what, this is sick.'"
Virgin Island Journey
Now, Millie is fully immersed in the Virgin Island experience. The show, now halfway through its second season, features 12 sexually inexperienced adults on a Croatian island with sex and relationship experts. They learn practical and emotional skills for healthy relationships. Millie emphasised the importance of the sex surrogacy component, stating it is "100 per cent important" despite potential outside perceptions. "It's one of those things that actually helps people blossom so much," she said. "I understand that people are like 'That's weird', but I think unless you're not in that kind of situation I don't think people will really understand as much."
Upcoming Episode
The series continues tonight at 9pm on Channel 4, with episodes available on catch-up thereafter. In a recent episode, participant Tegan, 25, engaged in directed gazing with surrogate partner therapist Risdon Roberts, an exercise aimed at evoking desire.
