Bride Marries in Hospital After Grill Explosion Burns

A woman who sustained severe third-degree burns when a barbecue grill exploded in her face has celebrated her marriage in a hospital, during an emotional ceremony that was documented on camera. Arianna Esquiline, aged 34, was on holiday in Miami, Florida, at the beginning of this year when a freak accident irrevocably altered her life.

Traumatic Accident Leads to Hospitalisation

She was operating a barbecue grill when it suddenly burst, leaving her with critical third-degree burns across her face and body. Arianna was urgently transported to hospital and has since undergone twelve surgeries over the past six weeks, moving in and out of medical procedures repeatedly.

Epiphany About Relationship

Despite the immense trauma, Arianna explained to the local NBC affiliate, NBC 6 South Florida, that her injuries provided a profound realisation about her personal relationship. 'After this happened, it made me realise this is the man I want in my life,' she disclosed to the outlet. Arianna and her now-husband, Elvin, had become engaged last May, but she resolved to advance the wedding date significantly.

Immediate Wedding Plans

Elvin recounted to NBC 6 that he inquired if Arianna still wished to marry after the accident, and she not only affirmed but insisted on proceeding immediately. 'I said we will get married and she said now, right now in the hospital,' he remembered. Elvin secured a marriage licence, and the couple wed on February 12 at HCA Florida Kendall Hospital in a heartfelt ceremony.

Hospital Staff Support Ceremony

Arianna's medical team enthusiastically supported the idea and accompanied her down the aisle in the hospital's chapel. She adorned a lace veil and progressed in a walker embellished with pink and white flowers, symbolising hope and new beginnings.

Emotional Moments Captured

In a poignant instance captured on video, Elvin embraced Arianna's doctor and wept openly. Dr Jonathan Freedman, a burn surgeon at the hospital, attended the special ceremony and commended the couple for their resilience during the previous painful month. 'She has made an unbelievable turn and improved in her recovery, and we are all very proud of her,' Freedman told NBC 6.

Long Road to Recovery Ahead

Arianna still confronts an extensive recovery journey, with multiple surgeries scheduled and rehabilitation planned. However, she expressed gratitude towards her medical staff and excitement about returning home to Fort Myers with her new husband, highlighting the power of love and support in overcoming adversity.
