5-step sleep hack 'works like magic' for instant snooze

A woman has shared a remarkably simple five-step sleep technique that she and her friends claim works 'like magic' to induce sleep almost instantly, offering hope to millions struggling with insomnia.

The Struggle with Sleepless Nights

Difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep is a common but draining problem that can severely impact daily life. The NHS notes that while the occasional restless night is normal, persistent sleep issues can damage relationships, cause constant fatigue, increase appetite, and hinder the ability to perform everyday tasks.

In search of solutions, many turn to social media, where one creator's advice has resonated on a massive scale. Content creator Olivia Hedlund posted a video detailing a method she learned, which has since amassed a staggering 8.1 million views on TikTok.

The 'Magic' Five-Step Method Explained

Olivia credits the technique to Dr Joe Dispenza, a best-selling author and researcher known for his work on the pineal gland and meditation practices designed to promote deep relaxation and better sleep.

In the clip, Olivia explains the precise routine while lying in bed. She instructs viewers to take five very specific, slow breaths. "You basically take a super slow inhale through your nose and you start clenching your body," she describes.

The steps are as follows:

  1. Inhale slowly and deeply through the nose.
  2. While inhaling, deliberately tense your body, flexing from your abs and stomach up to your chest.
  3. Visualise the breath travelling up your spine to the centre of your head.
  4. Hold the breath there for as long as is comfortable.
  5. Exhale and release. Repeat this sequence five times in total.

Olivia reported that after trying it herself with great success, she told two friends who also fell asleep "literally instantly" upon trying the hack.

Viewers Report Life-Changing Results

The response in the video's comments section has been overwhelmingly positive, with many users testifying to the technique's effectiveness. One person wrote, "I tried it and thought I was doing it wrong then I did it multiple times it helps!!!"

Another hopeful user commented, "I've been trying to fall asleep for the past 2hrs, this better work," while a third simply confirmed, "This worked for me actually."

Perhaps the most compelling testimony came from a long-term sufferer: "It works. I didn't sleep for 20 years. Then I watched Dr Joe Dispenza for about three weeks four or five years ago and now I sleep easily every night." Another fan added, "Pineal gland meditation is my FAVE."

For those plagued by restless nights, this straightforward, drug-free method, which focuses on controlled breathing and body awareness, is proving to be a potentially transformative tool for achieving quicker, more peaceful sleep.
