The British Foreign Office and Metropolitan Police have received a formal complaint from the Indonesian government following a provocative act by a UK-based content creator in London.
Flag Disrespect Sparks Outrage
On Friday 26 December 2025, adult content creator Bonnie Blue, whose real name is Tia Billinger, posted a video filmed outside the Indonesian embassy in the capital. The footage showed her deliberately trailing the Indonesian national flag along the ground.
The act was described by Indonesian officials as a disrespectful provocation against a sovereign symbol. It ignited fierce criticism from many Indonesians on social media platforms, who condemned the stunt as a deliberate insult to their national identity.
From Bali Detention to London Protest
The incident is the latest episode in an ongoing saga involving the creator. Blue was recently deported from Bali, where she had been initially detained by authorities on suspicion of filming pornographic content.
However, she was ultimately removed from Indonesia for visa and traffic violations, not for the pornography allegations. The recent video outside the London embassy was reportedly framed by Blue as her going 'to pay a fine' related to the Bali incident.
Formal Diplomatic Response
In response to the video, the Indonesian government has taken official action. It has lodged complaints with both the UK's Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office and the British police.
In its statements, Jakarta emphasised that the national flag is a sacred symbol of sovereignty and identity, and that Blue's actions constituted a purposeful affront. The matter now presents a minor diplomatic issue for UK authorities to address.
The case highlights the complex intersection of individual expression, digital content creation, and international diplomatic protocol. UK police are likely to assess the complaint to determine if any laws were broken during the filming in London.
