In a startling revelation from the latest tranche of documents released by the US Department of Justice, royal historian Andrew Lownie has made explosive claims regarding the connections between British high society and the Jeffrey Epstein scandal. Lownie, appearing on the Daily Mail Deep Dive podcast with Sunday Times bestselling author Sarah Vine, alleged that a former British Prime Minister was involved in a threesome with convicted sex trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell.
Epstein Files Uncover Disturbing Allegations
The Department of Justice recently released its largest batch of documents yet from the investigation into paedophile financier Jeffrey Epstein, comprising over 3 million papers, pictures, and videos. This massive disclosure has reignited scrutiny of Epstein's extensive network of powerful associates and the alleged cover-ups that followed.
Lownie's Controversial Claims
Andrew Lownie, author of the unauthorised biography The Rise and Fall of the House of York, which details Prince Andrew's dramatic downfall, has positioned himself as a controversial authority on the British establishment's ties to Epstein. During the podcast, Lownie stated, 'I have heard lots of talk about threesomes - including a threesome between Ghislaine and a British Prime Minister.'
When pressed by Vine about whether this involved a recent Prime Minister, Lownie clarified it was a former Prime Minister, humorously adding, 'but it's not Winston Churchill.' This allegation adds to previous claims that in 2006, Prince Andrew and Epstein attempted to pay an exotic dancer for a sexual encounter, suggesting a pattern of behaviour among elite circles.
Prince Andrew's Alleged Enablers
Lownie further asserted that much remains unknown about Prince Andrew's activities with Epstein, alleging that elements within Buckingham Palace and the government 'aided and abetted' the former Duke of York by covering up his behaviour. 'We have lots more on Andrew,' Lownie claimed. 'I think we will also find that he was aided and abetted much more than we realise. This will open up and other names will come into the frame.'
Prince Andrew has consistently denied all allegations of sexual misconduct, though he settled a civil case with Virginia Giuffre in 2022 without admitting liability, expressing regret for his association with Epstein. Lownie called for a Parliamentary investigation into Andrew's time as Trade Envoy and the release of all related files, which by law should be in the National Archives. 'That will help clean the stables and restore some trust,' he argued.
Epstein as a Russian Intelligence Asset
In a further bombshell, Lownie claimed that Jeffrey Epstein was a Russian intelligence asset recruited by the Soviet Union in the 1980s. He alleged that Epstein and others were recruited to run honeytrap operations in Britain and the United States to gain leverage over influential people. 'In the 1930s, the Russians penetrated the establishment through Oxford and Cambridge. They then realised they could do it through the royal family,' Lownie explained.
He added, 'They realised there were these greedy royals who would get into bed with people and give them access and credibility. There's material that was captured by the FBI which has never appeared - videos which will include Andrew. Some of that stuff was given to Putin. We know that Andrew was involved in honeytraps in Russia, in Central Asia, everywhere.' Lownie stated he has been given evidence that Epstein was a Russian source, trading in information and blackmail.
The full interview, described as explosive, is available on the Deep Dive podcast, prompting renewed calls for transparency and accountability in the wake of the Epstein files release.
