Primark Urgent Recall: Baby Soother Clips Pose Choking Hazard
Primark recalls baby soother clips over choking risk

High street retail giant Primark has issued an urgent product recall, warning customers to immediately stop using two specific types of baby soother clips due to a serious choking risk.

What Products Are Affected?

The recall concerns two separate products: the 2pk Soother Clips - Baby Bear and the 2pk Soother Clips - Balloon. The Baby Bear version was sold in Primark stores between June and August 2025, while the Balloon design was available from March to September 2025.

Each product can be identified by its unique kimball number. The Balloon soother clip has the number 80010, and the Baby Bear clip is marked 69489.

Why Has the Recall Been Issued?

The Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) has confirmed that the items do not comply with the relevant safety standards specific to soother clips. This non-compliance presents a clear danger.

"The product presents a risk of choking as it is not compliant with the relevant safety standards specific to soother clips," stated the OPSS. "This means it may pose a choking risk to young children, particularly those under 36 months of age who have a natural tendency to explore objects by placing them in their mouths."

Consequently, the product fails to meet the requirements of the General Product Safety Regulations 2005.

What Should Customers Do Now?

Primark and the safety watchdog are urging all consumers who have purchased these items to take immediate action.

  • Stop using the soother clips immediately and keep them out of reach of children.
  • Return the product to any Primark store for a full refund.
  • No proof of purchase is required to process the return.

In its official alert, Primark stated: "We apologise for any inconvenience and concerns this may cause. Spread the word about this recall, especially if you know that the recalled product was offered, borrowed or sold to someone else."
