In a rare public statement, actor Ashton Kutcher has offered heartfelt praise for his ex-wife, Demi Moore, focusing on her acclaimed performance in the horror film The Substance.
From Savage Memoir to Public Praise
The couple, who were together from 2003, married in 2005 and finalised their divorce in 2013, have largely remained private about their relationship. This changed in 2019 when Moore released her memoir, Inside Out, which contained stark revelations. She accused Kutcher of repeated infidelity and claimed his actions contributed to breaking her 20-year sobriety.
Despite these past disclosures, Kutcher has now chosen to publicly commend Moore's recent professional success. He told Entertainment Tonight he was "so proud of her" for her work, stating emphatically: "She killed it."
Acclaim for 'The Substance'
Kutcher's comments centre on Moore's role in the 2024 body horror film, where she plays fading aerobics star Elisabeth Sparkle. The performance earned Moore significant critical recognition, including an Oscar nomination, a Critics Choice Award, and a Screen Actors Guild Award.
The actor's praise emerged during discussions about his own new project, the Ryan Murphy-created TV series The Beauty. While both narratives explore themes of perfection with deadly consequences, Kutcher was keen to highlight Moore's standalone achievement.
A Look Back at a Headline-Grabbing Romance
The pair's relationship was a constant media focus, not least due to their 15-year age gap; Moore was 40 and Kutcher 25 when they met. In her memoir, Moore reflected on feeling like a "15-year-old girl" in the relationship and described finding a sense of safety with Kutcher, who was comfortable with her family life, including her children and ex-husband Bruce Willis.
Since their split, their paths have diverged. Demi Moore is currently single, while Ashton Kutcher married actress Mila Kunis in 2015. His recent supportive words mark a notable, and largely positive, public step regarding their shared past.
