Bruno Fernandes has given his strongest indication yet that he will remain at Manchester United, insisting his connection with the club is unique. Speaking to Gary Neville on Sky Sports, the 31-year-old captain dismissed suggestions of a move, stating he could have left in previous windows but chose to stay.
“It’s not a question of loyalty,” Fernandes said. “I could have gone two years ago, three years ago, last season, but I really like to be here. The joy of being successful at this club is something I can never get elsewhere.” He added that he shares the fans’ desire for the club to return to its former glory and will continue to try until his contract expires.
Meanwhile, Manchester United have received a boost in their pursuit of Ajax winger Mika Godts, as Barcelona have reportedly dropped out of the race. Spanish outlet Marca claims the La Liga side are seeking a more experienced option, leaving United among the clubs still interested in the 20-year-old Belgian, who has 17 goals and 11 assists this season.
United are expected to be active in the summer transfer window, targeting at least two midfielders, a left-back, and a left-winger. The club is also searching for a permanent manager after Michael Carrick’s interim spell, following a turbulent season under Ruben Amorim.
