Peter Andre Shares Hopes to Become a Grandfather as Son Moves In with Girlfriend
Peter Andre has revealed why he holds a "slightly different" view on the often-emotional concept of children flying the nest, looking ahead to his future roles as a father and potential grandfather. The Mysterious Girl singer, aged 53, is father to Princess, 18, and Junior, 20, from his previous marriage to Katie Price, along with Millie, 12, Theo, nine, and 22-month-old Belle with his current wife, Emily.
A Positive Outlook on Family Changes
In his column for new! magazine, Andre discussed how actress Joanna Page, whom he fondly remembers working with, expressed worries about her four children eventually leaving home. While he empathises with her concerns, Andre explained that he chooses to focus on the positive aspects of this life stage.
"I have the hope that one of our children may have children, and we’ll do it all again, as grandparents!" Andre wrote. "Yes, it’s sad but I also love seeing them growing up." He noted that Emily shares similar anxieties, but the family is navigating these changes together.
Andre highlighted that Junior has recently moved in with his girlfriend, marking a significant step towards independence. However, Princess remains at home, with Andre humorously mentioning her daily texts asking about dinner plans, showing she hasn't fully flown the nest yet.
Embracing Music and Family Connections
The conversation extended to music comebacks, with Andre expressing excitement about Hilary Duff's world tour after her early 2000s fame on Lizzie McGuire. Duff, a mother of four, shared how her children now appreciate her showbiz career, a sentiment Andre relates to as his younger kids start engaging with his music.
"It was really interesting to hear about how Hilary Duff’s kids think she’s cool, now she’s launched a comeback," Andre said. He discovered that Millie included his 1996 hit Flava on her playlist, which secretly thrilled him, even if he was among hundreds of artists listed.
Theo, meanwhile, shows good taste in music with Michael Jackson as his top artist, though Andre proudly noted that his son occasionally plays his new song Rock U Right. Reflecting on his own career, Andre mused about the possibility of reviving his heyday, joking, "Never say never - there’s still time to get ripped and re-do Mysterious Girl!"
This blend of family milestones and musical nostalgia underscores Andre's optimistic approach to parenting and aging, as he eagerly anticipates the next chapter as a grandfather while cherishing current moments with his children.
