Reality television star Charlotte Chilton, best known for appearing on the hit BBC show The Traitors, has endured a 'absolutely terrifying' seizure that temporarily left her unable to walk or speak properly. The 34-year-old's health crisis comes just weeks after she underwent major brain surgery over the Christmas period.
A Festive Period in Agony
Chilton's ordeal began over the festive season when she was rushed to A&E suffering from a severe attack of trigeminal neuralgia (TN), a chronic neurological condition often dubbed the 'suicide disease' due to the excruciating facial pain it causes. In search of relief, she underwent an operation performed by neurosurgeons.
The mother-of-one spent 18 days in hospital, including Christmas Day, before finally returning home to her 15-month-old daughter, Penelope, on 27 December. She shared her joy at the reunion with fans on Instagram, posting a filtered bathroom selfie and admitting she still faced a recovery.
The 'Terrifying' Seizure at Home
While recovering at home, Chilton suffered a dramatic setback. A source close to the star revealed that she collapsed after suffering a seizure. "Her arms were limp and she couldn't walk. It was absolutely terrifying," the insider said.
Doctors believe the seizure may have been a reaction to new medication prescribed to manage her condition. "She was on strong medication and it was a balancing act to find the right dose," the source explained. The seizure occurred as Chilton was already run down, battling tonsillitis and a mouth full of ulcers.
Road to Recovery and Family Support
Thankfully, Chilton's parents were on hand to provide immediate care. They physically supported her until she gradually regained control of her limbs and could speak properly again. The source stated the TV personality is now "slowly recovering" and it is hoped the worst is behind her.
After being in too much pain to eat, Chilton is reportedly looking forward to simple pleasures like a McDonald's or a curry. Her focus remains on her daughter, Penny, after what has been an intensely challenging period.
This health update follows a difficult public period for Chilton, who was recently mocked by singer Conor Maynard after an emotional TV interview. Chilton maintains Maynard is the father of her daughter, despite his denials and two DNA tests that he claims prove otherwise.
