After a ten-year musical silence, the legendary Canadian dance-punk artist Peaches is making a triumphant return to the music scene. The provocative performer, real name Merrill Nisker, has announced both a brand new album and an extensive tour, marking her first major release since 2015.
A Decade in the Making: The New Era Begins
The long-awaited follow-up to her 2015 album Rub will be titled No Lube So Rude, scheduled for release in 2026. Fans have already been treated to the first single, Not In Your Mouth None of Your Business, which has been described as a powerful anthem for liberation and resistance, specifically targeting those attempting to strip away queer rights.
This new musical chapter continues Peaches' tradition of creating bold, unapologetic art that challenges societal norms and celebrates freedom of expression.
The Iconic Career of a Dance-Punk Pioneer
Peaches first emerged from Toronto's underground scene in the late 1990s, sharing creative spaces with artists like Feist, with whom she once lived above a sex shop. Her career truly ignited after moving to Berlin in the early 2000s.
Her debut EP, Lovertits, became a cult favourite within the electroclash movement. However, it was the explosive track Fuck the Pain Away from her debut album The Teaches of Peaches that catapulted her into mainstream recognition.
Throughout her career, Peaches has delivered a series of brilliantly titled albums including Fatherfucker, Impeach My Bush, I Feel Cream, and Rub, collaborating with music legends like Iggy Pop, Soulwax, and Kim Gordon.
Tour Dates and Trans Rights Support
Alongside the album announcement, Peaches has revealed plans for a 27-date North American tour beginning in February. In a significant show of support for the LGBTQ+ community, the artist has committed to donating one dollar from every ticket sold to organisations dedicated to upholding trans rights.
Known for her unforgettable live performances that have included crowdsurfing inside a giant condom and performing alongside vulva-headed dancers, audiences can expect the same boundary-pushing spectacle on this upcoming tour.
Peaches will also be connecting directly with fans by answering questions in an upcoming interview. Readers are invited to submit their questions in the comments before 1pm GMT on Tuesday 18 November, with her responses publishing in the 21 November edition of the Film & Music section.
