Dog Found Locked in Boiler Room Seeks Forever Home in the UK
A one-year-old mixed breed dog named Kiki is in urgent need of a new home in the United Kingdom after being discovered locked inside a boiler room in Bosnia. Despite her challenging past, rescuers describe her as having a "diamond" personality, making her an ideal companion for the right family.
Kiki's Unique Walk and Gentle Nature
Kiki has captured hearts with her distinctive, wobbly walk, which some have likened to the iconic running style of Forrest Gump. This is due to slightly weak back legs, but it does not hinder her mobility. She would benefit from physiotherapy and gentle exercise to build strength over time. Weighing just 8kg, Kiki is otherwise a healthy young dog, fully neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped.
Her temperament is remarkably calm and affectionate. She is perfectly house-trained, content with two or three daily walks, and enjoys curling up on the sofa or snuggling with humans. Kiki adores children, happily cuddling and sleeping beside them, and gets along well with cats and other dogs, as long as they respect her space.
Rescue from a Dangerous Situation
Kiki's journey began when she was found by animal control in the city of Derventa, Bosnia, locked in a boiler room. Prior to this, she had been living on the streets, where she unintentionally gathered a large group of stray dogs around her while in heat, creating a hazardous situation for both herself and the public. Thankfully, she was rescued and has since thrived in foster care, where her gentle nature has shone through.
Adoption Details and Requirements
Miracle's Mission, the rescue organisation caring for Kiki, is seeking a special home for her. They emphasise that adopters should look past her unusual walk and focus on her loving, calm companionship. With patience, care, and support to strengthen her legs, she is expected to thrive in a suitable environment.
Travel to the UK can be arranged, with adopters required to cover the approximate £500 cost. Despite her appealing qualities, only a handful of people have expressed interest in rehoming Kiki, highlighting the need for more awareness. Miracle's Mission encourages potential adopters to consider Kiki or other dogs in their care, as she represents a resilient and affectionate pet ready for a new chapter.
