Royal Couple to Host Windsor Castle Premiere of Environmental Documentary
King Charles III and Queen Camilla are set to attend a special screening at Windsor Castle this Wednesday evening for a new documentary focusing on the monarch's decades-long commitment to environmental causes. The film, titled Finding Harmony: A King's Vision, offers viewers an intimate look at His Majesty's personal journey and philosophical approach to tackling some of the planet's most pressing ecological challenges.
Intimate Portrait of a Monarch's Environmental Mission
Narrated by Oscar-winning actress Kate Winslet, the documentary promises to reveal a more informal side of the King as he reflects on his environmental work. Kristina Murrin, chief executive of The King's Foundation, which collaborated on the production, noted that audiences will see Charles "as quite an informal person, telling you about what he believes in, which is not how we tend to normally see him." She added that the monarch is "very funny" and "a joy to work with," suggesting the film provides unique access to his personal perspective.
The documentary traces Charles's environmental advocacy back to when such concerns were far from mainstream, detailing both his early championing of organic farming and his advocacy regarding biodiversity loss, deforestation, and climate change. Shot across four continents by award-winning production company Passion Planet, the film documents global nature decline while presenting the King's vision for harmony between humanity and the natural world.
Royal Family Gathering for Special Screening
Joining the King and Queen for Wednesday's premiere will be The Duchess of Edinburgh and The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, making it a significant royal family occasion. The event marks the culmination of a project that has been in development for some time, with Winslet having become an ambassador for The King's Foundation last year and attending the charity's awards ceremony at St James's Palace in June 2025.
Ms. Murrin emphasized the unique nature of Charles's advocacy, stating: "There is something fairly unique when you say, if I'm in corporate I'm trying to make money, if I'm a politician, I'm trying to get reelected, if I'm a celebrity, I'm trying to be more famous. He has no agenda. He doesn't need any of those things. His only agenda is help."
Foundation's Work Showcased in Film
The documentary highlights how The King's Foundation, established by Charles in 1990 and headquartered at Dumfries House in East Ayrshire, has implemented his environmental philosophy through practical projects. These initiatives focus on community regeneration, sustainable textiles, and traditional skills, demonstrating applied solutions to ecological and social challenges.
"We've got something quite special here that is applicable, and I think is really pertinent to the challenges that the world is facing on a number of different fronts, whether that be the climate or social cohesion," Murrin explained regarding the foundation's work. She added that local communities have embraced these projects, with residents describing Dumfries House as "theirs" and feeling "part of the regeneration."
Global Release on Prime Video
Finding Harmony: A King's Vision will receive a worldwide release on Amazon's Prime Video platform, becoming available in more than 240 countries and territories from 6 February. The film represents a significant moment for both royal documentary filmmaking and environmental advocacy, bringing the King's message to a global audience through one of the world's largest streaming services.
The production aims to make environmental principles accessible to all viewers, with Murrin stating: "We've tried to make the principles come across so that it doesn't matter who you are, there's something in there for you." As climate concerns continue to dominate global discourse, this royal documentary offers both historical perspective and hopeful vision for sustainable futures.
