Reform UK's London Mayoral Candidate Laila Cunningham Faces Companies House Strike-Offs
Reform's London mayoral candidate's firms struck off

Reform UK's candidate for the 2028 London mayoral election, Laila Cunningham, has seen two of her former businesses struck off the official register for failing to submit legally required paperwork.

Companies Dissolved for Non-Filing

The official watchdog, Companies House, dissolved two companies where Ms Cunningham served as a director or shareholder. Kitchin Table Ltd, which operated a co-working app aimed at women, was dissolved in August 2024. The second company, MGIC Ltd, was struck off the register in August 2023.

Candidate's Defence and Party Backing

Speaking on Times Radio, Laila Cunningham firmly stated she 'didn't break companies' law'. She explained that the companies in question were dormant and emphasised there was 'never any wrongdoing' or fraudulent activity involved.

Reform UK has moved quickly to defend its candidate. A party spokesperson noted that it is common for entrepreneurs to have inactive companies struck off the register and confirmed that Ms Cunningham has passed all advanced vetting and background checks conducted by the party.

Political Context and Scrutiny

The revelation comes as political figures face increasing scrutiny over their business affairs and financial backgrounds. As a candidate for one of the UK's most high-profile elected roles, Cunningham's commercial history is likely to remain under the spotlight in the lead-up to the 2028 election.

The situation highlights the rigorous examination faced by all political candidates, particularly those from parties like Reform UK which are seeking to gain significant ground in major electoral contests.
