The US Department of Justice has issued a firm denial, branding a rape allegation against former President Donald Trump contained within the latest release of documents related to Jeffrey Epstein as "untrue and sensationalist".
Allegation in FBI Case File
Among more than 11,000 files made public in the newest cache is an FBI case file, numbered EFTA00020518 and dated October 2020. This partially redacted document includes an interview record with an unnamed woman who states, "he raped me," in reference to Donald Trump. She further asserted that "Donald J. Trump had raped her together with Jeffrey Epstein."
The identity of the accuser remains confidential, as all names and identifying details have been redacted from the released file.
Immediate Denial from Justice Department
The Department of Justice and the Press Office responded promptly to the emergence of the allegation. In a statement, they declared the claims to be "unfounded and false," arguing that if they possessed any credibility, they would have already been used against the former president.
"The claims are unfounded and false, and if they had a shred of credibility, they certainly would have been weaponized against President Trump already," the DoJ stated, adding the description "untrue and sensationalist."
Trump's Previous Comments on Epstein Association
Donald Trump, who has consistently denied any wrongdoing in his past association with the disgraced financier and convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein, has previously expressed frustration about the issue. He has argued that people appearing in old photographs with Epstein are often unfairly tarnished by the connection.
Speaking at an event at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach, Florida, on Monday, the former president said, "You probably have pictures of other people who innocently met Jeffrey Epstein years ago, many years ago. And they’re, you know, highly respected bankers and lawyers and others."
The full FBI document containing this specific accusation is available within the publicly released Epstein files.
