Chelsea have opened early talks to sign Crystal Palace centre-back Maxence Lacroix as the Blues look to bolster their defensive options ahead of the new season. The 26-year-old French defender, who previously played for Wolfsburg, is understood to be open to a move to Stamford Bridge.
Interest in Lacroix Intensifies
According to Standard Sport, Chelsea's interest in Lacroix is genuine and he features prominently on their list of summer centre-back targets, ahead of Como defender Jacobo Ramon. The Blues are also close to signing Atalanta right-back Marco Palestra on an initial six-year contract, with an option to extend by a further year.
Lacroix is currently representing France at the World Cup. Crystal Palace are under no financial pressure to sell the defender, who has taken on greater responsibility since Marc Guehi left for Manchester City in January. Lacroix has been at Selhurst Park for two full seasons, making 70 Premier League appearances.
Chelsea's Defensive Reshuffle
Chelsea are willing to sell Trevoh Chalobah this summer, with Serie A side Como expressing interest in the 26-year-old England international. Right-back Malo Gusto's future is also uncertain, with links to Manchester City, where former Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca is set to become Pep Guardiola's successor. Gusto played under Maresca during his tenure at Stamford Bridge.
