Fun Spot America in Atlanta, Georgia, is set to close its doors for good on August 2, ending a 36-year run that began in 1990 as Dixieland Fun Park. The Orlando-based Fun Spot America Theme Parks group, which acquired the park in 2017, announced the closure, calling it an "extremely difficult decision."
Rides and Attractions
The park boasts 14 major rides, including three high-speed roller coasters, a 40-foot go-kart track, and Georgia's only legal bungee-jumping tower. It also offers several milder rides for families and younger children.
Reason for Closure
The owners have not disclosed the specific reason for the shutdown. However, according to The Street, theme parks with aging attractions often become too unprofitable to maintain or refurbish without significant new financial resources.
Customer Impact
The park's owners said they will independently contact customers who booked school or group trips after the closure date. Any gift cards or season passes must be used before August 2. The two other Fun Spot locations in Orlando and Kissimmee will continue operating.
Future of the Site
It is not publicly known whether something else will be built on the lot or how the rides will be disassembled.

"Our Atlanta team has poured their hearts into serving our guests and creating a place where families could have fun together. We are deeply grateful for their dedication and for the support we have received from the Fayetteville community," CEO John Arie Jr. said in a press statement.
Fun Spot America wrote on Instagram on June 25: "Come see us, make one more memory, and take one last ride."
