Liverpool Transfer Update: One Deal Close, Two Slipping Away
Liverpool Transfer: One Deal Close, Two Slipping Away

The summer transfer window has officially opened, and Liverpool are expected to conduct significant business under new head coach Andoni Iraola. However, while one deal appears imminent, two key targets are slipping away.

Outgoing Transfers

Mohamed Salah, Andy Robertson, and Ibrahima Konate have all left Liverpool after their contracts expired. Robertson joined Tottenham Hotspur, Konate moved to Real Madrid, and Salah is linked with a move to Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal. Curtis Jones is wanted by Inter Milan, but the Italian club is unwilling to meet Liverpool's asking price of over £30 million. Nottingham Forest are also interested, but Jones is reluctant to move to the City Ground.

Alisson Becker has committed to the club for the season, while Giorgi Mamardashvili has been offered to Serie A clubs for a potential loan. Joe Gomez has cast doubt on his future, and Federico Chiesa is expected to try to impress Iraola before any potential return to Italy. Harvey Elliott could also leave if a suitable offer arrives. Alexis Mac Allister's departure talk has cooled, with Real Madrid now targeting Enzo Fernandez.

Luca Stephenson is on the verge of signing for Championship side Bolton Wanderers after two loan spells at Dundee United. Kieran Morrison, who signed a new contract last month, is likely to be loaned out, and Trey Nyoni, 18, has attracted interest from Swansea City.

Incoming Transfers

Victor Munoz became Liverpool's first signing under Iraola after his £34.5 million release clause at Osasuna was triggered. Centre-back Jeremy Jacquet will also arrive from Rennes for £60 million, a deal agreed in January. However, a move for Tottenham's Micky van de Ven appears unlikely as Spurs are unwilling to sell.

With Salah's departure, Liverpool need a new right-winger. They were prepared to pay £86 million for RB Leipzig's Yan Diomande, but Leipzig refused to deal, and Diomande prefers Paris Saint-Germain. Bradley Barcola of PSG is also being assessed, but PSG have set a prohibitive price tag of over £110 million. Other options include Brighton's Yanbuka Minteh, Said El Mala of Koln, and Lille's Matia Fernandez-Pardo, all significantly cheaper.

Liverpool retained interest in Anthony Gordon, but Barcelona signed him for €80 million from Newcastle United. Midfield signings are unlikely until the futures of current squad members are resolved. The Reds are also not guaranteed to sign a new right-back despite Conor Bradley's long-term injury and Jeremie Frimpong's erratic fitness record; January target Denzel Dumfries has joined Real Madrid.
