Man Utd Transfer Boost: Tchouameni 'Perfect' as Target Snubs Deal

Manchester United have received a major transfer boost in their pursuit of a new midfielder, with reports that Aurelien Tchouameni is open to a move and Alex Scott has rejected a new contract at Bournemouth. The Red Devils, who finished third in the Premier League last season, are looking to strengthen their squad ahead of Champions League football under permanent manager Michael Carrick.

Alex Scott Rejects Bournemouth Contract

According to The Athletic, Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott has turned down several contract proposals from the Cherries. The 22-year-old is understood to be United's primary target for a midfield signing, despite Bournemouth maintaining he is not available for sale this summer. Scott's existing deal runs until 2028, and earlier reports suggested the Guernsey-born midfielder would welcome a switch to Old Trafford.

United's search for a marquee midfield acquisition has not been successful so far this summer, with their bid for Mateus Fernandes falling short as the Portuguese star moved to Tottenham for £85m. Scott could prove a cheaper yet equally impressive addition, with the club hoping to capitalise on his contract situation.

Aurelien Tchouameni Green Light

Another name linked with United is Real Madrid's Aurelien Tchouameni. Reports suggest approaches have been made regarding a potential transfer for the 26-year-old Frenchman, whose valuation stands at around £85m. Former AC Milan and Chelsea defender Marcel Desailly has endorsed the move, calling Tchouameni a 'perfect' signing for United.

"I'm sure Aurelien Tchouameni would move to the Premier League, and Manchester United is still a massive club; a massive name," Desailly told Sportscasting.com. "He had a difficult season, but at least he shows leadership. That's why when you talk about Ibrahima Konate or Tchouameni, I'll always choose Tchouameni because of his desire. And he also wears my No. 8 on his back, so I love him for this! I believe that he has that little bit of leadership and the desire to bring the team all together. So it could be a good move for him, just like when Raphael Varane swapped Madrid for Manchester back in the day. So why not? I would encourage him to go for it and try the Premier League."

Midfield Priority for Carrick

Following Michael Carrick's transformation of his former club's fortunes, he has now secured the permanent role at United. The top priority remains plugging the gap left by Casemiro, with Ederson anticipated to complete his switch from Atalanta shortly. However, a second midfield recruit remains on the club's radar, and the encouraging news regarding both Scott and Tchouameni could accelerate their plans.

United will face Champions League commitments next term and are likely to require reinforcements across several positions, but the midfield remains the key area of focus as they look to build on their third-place finish.
