A veterinary practice in Merseyside has been named the best in the UK for the second consecutive year after receiving more than 1,000 glowing reviews from clients. Sanderson Vet, based on Pensby Road in Pensby, near Heswall, took home the prestigious Best UK Vet 2026 title at the annual BestUKVets Awards, becoming one of only a handful of practices to win the national award twice.
Winners Determined by Client Feedback
The awards, now in their 13th year and powered by VetHelpDirect, are unique in that winners are determined entirely by client feedback. Practices are ranked based on the number of four and five-star reviews left online by pet owners throughout the year.
Sanderson Vet joins an exclusive group of repeat winners, including Cockburn Veterinary Group in Coalville, which secured the title in both 2021 and 2022.
Practice Owner Expresses Pride
Owner and veterinary surgeon Richard Sanderson said the recognition was particularly meaningful because it came directly from clients. "Seeing our team get the recognition they deserve for a second time is amazing," he said. "We never expected to receive such an honour, and to know that this is based on client reviews makes it all the more special for everyone involved."
He added: "To see over 1,000 clients take time to tell us how we do every day shows they love the practice as much as we do, and makes our sacrifices worth it. To be the best vet out of thousands of applicants two years running makes me so proud of my team."

Founded in 2016, Sanderson Vet has built a strong reputation for its commitment to patient care and clinical excellence. The practice is accredited as a veterinary hospital, a distinction awarded in recognition of high clinical standards and facilities.
According to the practice's website, it was established with the aim of offering the highest standards of patient and client care. Its facilities include advanced diagnostic and surgical equipment such as CT scanning, endoscopy and arthroscopy suites, alongside an in-house laboratory.
