Dyson PencilVac vs Bissell PowerClean: Which Stick Vac Wins?
Dyson PencilVac vs Bissell PowerClean: Which Stick Vac Wins?

In a head-to-head test of the latest lightweight stick vacuums, the Dyson PencilVac Fluffycones and Bissell PowerClean Dualbrush were compared on hardwood floors and carpets. Over several weeks, the vacuums were tested on rice, dirt, flour, and granola to assess design, power, and value.

The Bissell proved more powerful, lasting 48 minutes per charge compared to Dyson's 28 minutes. It cleaned up all debris in one pass on both surfaces, while the Dyson struggled with larger messes, leaving rice kernels behind and freezing on granola. However, the Dyson was lighter at half the weight (4 lbs vs 8 lbs) and more manoeuvrable, with a slim 1.5-inch design that pivoted easily around furniture.

Both vacuums set up quickly with snap-together parts. The Bissell has a larger 0.10-gallon dirt tank, requiring fewer empties, but is bulkier and louder. The Dyson's 0.02-gallon tank compresses debris and is integrated into the stick, making emptying simpler. Each includes a light for spotting dust and accessories for furniture and pet hair.

Despite the Bissell's superior cleaning power, the Dyson was preferred for everyday quick clean-ups due to its lightness and ease of use. The Dyson's magnetic charging stand and intuitive operation made it more enjoyable for routine tasks. Ultimately, the Dyson PencilVac was chosen as the winner for its balance of performance and convenience.
