National Lottery to Launch UK Powerball and Revamp Lotto Draws

The National Lottery has announced a major overhaul, including the introduction of a UK version of the US Powerball game this summer. This will be the first new draw-based game since the lottery began in 1994.

Players will pay £4 per line to compete for jackpots starting at around £12 million, paid out over 30 years. Jackpots can roll over and potentially reach £1 billion. Draws occur every Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday at 4am UK time, with tickets needing to be purchased by 11:55pm the previous day.

In addition to Powerball, Lotto will launch a new format from June 7, offering two chances to win per £2 ticket. This change is expected to more than double the number of Lotto millionaires from around 140 to about 345 per year.
