KP Snacks has confirmed the discontinuation of four popular crisp flavours: Beef, Cheese & Onion, Salt & Vinegar, and Salted. The snacks, which were not sold in supermarkets but available in corner shops, pubs, and online, have been pulled from shelves, leaving loyal customers upset.
A KP Snacks spokesperson told The Sun: "We have made the decision to discontinue KP Crisps Salted, Cheese & Onion, Salt & Vinegar and Beef as we focus on our wider portfolio. We understand these products have a loyal following and thank consumers for their continued support of our brands."
Social Media Reactions
The news first emerged on Facebook, where a user in the group "We Need to Talk About Crisps" reported that the final production run of beef-flavoured crisps had been completed, with the company distributing them to staff. They described it as the "end of an era."
Fans took to social media to express their dismay. One devastated customer said: "Noooooo, please say this isn't true I get a box of these every birthday." Another lamented: "They were the perfect cheap pub crisp with a weirdly legit beefy flavour." A third added: "The flavour on the KP Beef/Cheese & Onion is better than anything else on the market!"
Nostalgia and History
For some, the crisps held nostalgic value. One user recalled: "My first ever crisp! 7p in tuck shop at junior school." The crisps were originally introduced as a low-cost alternative, significantly cheaper than branded counterparts.
Despite the discontinuation, KP Snacks assured that salted peanuts remain available. The decision is part of the company's strategy to streamline its product portfolio.
