Newcastle Braced for Arsenal's Second Bruno Guimaraes Bid
Newcastle Braced for Second Arsenal Bruno Guimaraes Bid

Arsenal are reportedly preparing a second offer for Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes, according to the Daily Mail. The Gunners had an initial £55 million bid rejected and are now considering a fresh proposal for the 28-year-old Brazilian international.

Newcastle's Stance Clear

Newcastle have made their position clear that Guimaraes is not available for transfer, issuing a hands-off warning to the Premier League champions and other potential suitors. Despite Arsenal's interest, the Magpies have not received any official approach or had an offer. Bruno had a £100 million release clause in 2024 when Manchester City were said to have shown an interest, but a bid close to that figure was not forthcoming.

Guimaraes is currently representing Brazil at the World Cup alongside Arsenal players Gabriel Magalhaes and Gabriel Martinelli. While he hasn't informed Newcastle of any desire to depart, his name continues to be linked with a potential move.

Guimaraes' Impact at Newcastle

The former Lyon player arrived at St. James' Park in January 2022 and has since featured in 195 matches for the Magpies, finding the net 31 times. He was part of the squad that ended their lengthy trophy drought by claiming the Carabao Cup during the 2024/25 campaign. He has two years remaining on his deal.

In March, reports emerged that Manchester United were in 'advanced talks' to bring Guimaraes to Old Trafford. Newcastle boss Eddie Howe was quick to dismiss those claims, branding them "nonsense". He said: "I don't even know how to respond to that. I don't even think I should because it's a waste of my energy. I'm not going to be impolite because I don't think it's the forum to do that in. For me it's a nonsense story. Bruno's our captain, he's fully committed. He's injured at the moment, his only focus is coming back to fitness. For me, it is not the time to think about it. In the summer, you can understand those stories a little bit more because the transfer window is open. To say our captain is in discussions with another club is totally disrespectful to Bruno more than anything else. He is totally committed here."

Other Newcastle Transfer Speculation

Question marks remain over some of Newcastle's star players after they missed out on Champions League and European football following a poor campaign. Sandro Tonali is currently the topic of speculation with a St. James' Park exit possible. Last week, an £80 million bid from Tottenham Hotspur was rejected. Meanwhile, Newcastle have already waved farewell to Anthony Gordon, who completed a lucrative move to Barcelona.
