Aldi is releasing a range of 'cool air' gadgets in its latest SpecialBuy deals, arriving just as the UK endures another day of extreme heat with temperatures reaching 35°C in some areas. The Met Office issued a rare extreme heat red warning for parts of England and Wales earlier this week, forecasting highs of 40°C. The severe heat has led to school closures, travel disruption, strain on the NHS, decreased retail footfall, and multiple drownings.
An intense 'heat dome' combined with high humidity has pushed daytime temperatures past a record 36.7°C, causing unbearable 'tropical nights' where temperatures remain above 20°C. With most UK homes built to retain warmth, millions are turning to fans and air conditioning units to cope. Lidl is also introducing a new 3-in-1 portable air conditioning unit this week.
Key SpecialBuy Products from Aldi
From Thursday, July 2, shoppers can purchase a Globe Fan for £39.99, a Microfibre Duvet set from £9.99, a Portable Telescopic Fan for £24.99, and various other cooling products. Two standout deals are the Portable Air Cooler for £14.99 and the Jet Fan for £16.99.
Portable Air Cooler Cube (£14.99)
The cube-shaped air cooler comes in three colours (grey, blue, light blue) and is compact enough to move from room to room or take outside. It charges via USB-C and does not need to be plugged in to operate. Features include three speed levels, a built-in LED motion with automatic colour-changing mode, and a touch control panel. It has a removable water tank and a top section for filling with water to produce extra cool air. Aldi says: "Your very own cooling device, perfect for bedrooms, offices, or even outdoor activities."
Jet Fan Kit (£16.99)
The two-in-one jet fan doubles as a dust blower and a vacuum pump, with various attachments for different uses. It comes with a zip-up storage box. Aldi states: "Stay cool during the warmer months with fast, efficient cooling." It is suitable for cleaning via compressed air, inflating, or vacuuming. The fan has adjustable intensity, a built-in rechargeable battery, a light, a belt clip, and a storage box. It is rechargeable via USB (cable included) and available in black, blue, green, and grey.
Impact of the Heatwave
The extreme heat has prompted widespread disruption. Schools have closed, travel services have been affected, and the NHS has reported increased pressure. Retail footfall has dropped as people stay indoors. Multiple drownings have occurred as people seek to cool off in open water. The Met Office's red warning remains in effect for some areas, with temperatures expected to stay high into next week.
