Fortnum & Mason Tops Good Housekeeping Easter Egg Taste Test

Fortnum & Mason has been crowned the winner of the best overall Easter egg in Good Housekeeping's annual taste test, beating supermarket rivals. The high-end department store's Piedmont Hazelnut & Blonde Chocolate Easter Egg scored 96 out of 100, praised for its 'layer of toasted Piedmont hazelnuts, which added both crunch and a nuttier note to cut through the sweeter, caramelised chocolate.'

The Good Housekeeping Institute tested 195 products, including Easter eggs, hot cross buns, and centrepieces. Hotel Chocolat took top honours in both dark and white chocolate categories with its Extra Thick Dark Chocolate Easter Egg (81/100) and Extra Thick White Chocolate Easter Egg (80/100). Melt's Acorn Easter Egg was named best milk chocolate (83/100), while KitKat Chunky Salted Caramel Popcorn Incredible Egg was runner-up (82/100).

For vegan options, Melt's Dark Chocolate & Sea Salt Egg scored 89/100, praised for its 'well-balanced bittersweet taste' and 'pretty chocolate drip design.' In the children's category, Sainsbury's Cookies & Cream Egg (£4 for 210g) won with a score of 79/100, followed by Kinder Surprise (77/100).
