Old Nintendo DS Games Could Be Worth Hundreds

Households across the UK are being urged to check their cupboards and attics for old Nintendo DS games, as certain titles from the noughties are now fetching hundreds of pounds on eBay. A recent surge in retro gaming prices has seen popular Pokémon games sell for as much as £445, leaving many unaware that their childhood collections could be worth a small fortune.

Hidden Treasures in Your Stash

Many people have inadvertently given away or thrown out valuable games, unaware of their current market value. One Reddit user shared a cautionary tale: "My mum casually threw away my Pokemon Platinum copy I'd had for 16 years while I wasn't home because she decided 'adults don't need that stuff'." The user posted a screenshot showing the game selling on eBay for between £95 and £445, depending on condition.

Another user recounted a similar experience: "My mum gave my younger cousin some of my GameCube games because she thought I didn't play them as much and it would be nice. My uncle ended up selling them. But it's okay it was only Pokemon Colosseum and Gales Of Darkness, Wind Waker, Ultimate Spiderman and a couple others. Oh man."

A third Redditor added: "When I moved away from home in 2008, my mother also moved into a different place two weeks later, so I made two piles of stuff before I left. One was things I didn't need that she could throw out. The other one had things I valued, including my complete set of first generation Pokemon cards, all in excellent condition, a lot of first editions as well. Guess which pile my mother threw out."

Another user lamented: "I had a video game collection from the NES to the Wii, plus a Pokemon card collection including a shadowless mint Charizard, I moved out of state in May and when I came back in December to grab the rest of my stuff it was all gone."
