Bradley Barcola Identified as Liverpool Transfer Alternative After Yan Diomande Blow
Barcola Liverpool Alternative After Diomande Blow

Liverpool have been handed a key transfer boost with reports that Bradley Barcola is pushing to leave Paris Saint-Germain, having been identified as a strong alternative to Yan Diomande. The Reds had hoped to secure a blockbuster deal for long-term target Diomande this summer, but news emerged on Sunday that the 19-year-old Ivory Coast winger prefers to join PSG instead and has already agreed personal terms with the reigning French and European champions.

Diomande Deal Falls Through

Liverpool were looking to follow up the surprise £34.5 million capture of Spain winger Victor Munoz from Osasuna as they retool their attacking options under new head coach Andoni Iraola following Mohamed Salah's exit. However, PSG have entered club-to-club negotiations with RB Leipzig for Diomande, who is expected to command a fee in excess of €100 million (£86 million).

Barcola Emerges as Alternative

TalkSPORT is among the outlets reporting that Barcola is a strong alternative who is pushing to leave PSG. The 23-year-old has been a key figure under Luis Enrique, winning three Ligue 1 titles and two Champions Leagues since joining from Lyon in 2023. However, he has fallen behind Ousmane Dembele, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, and Desire Doue in the attacking pecking order. Barcola was reportedly unhappy at being named on the bench for the Champions League final against Arsenal in Budapest last month, having replaced Kvaratskhelia late on. He was also a substitute in last year's final win over Inter Milan.

Other Liverpool Moves

In addition to Munoz, French centre-back Jeremy Jacquet will arrive at Anfield this summer after a £60 million deal was struck with Rennes in January. Jacquet remained at Rennes for the second half of last season and is expected to be fit for pre-season training in early July after recovering from a serious shoulder injury. He will replace compatriot Ibrahima Konate, who is joining Real Madrid on a free transfer. Andy Robertson has also departed for Tottenham, while Salah has yet to decide his next club amid links to Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and the USA.
