Man Utd Ederson Signing Imminent After Brazil Exit

Manchester United are poised to announce their first summer signing earlier than anticipated, with Brazilian midfielder Ederson set to complete a move from Atalanta. A deal worth £35 million, plus £3.8 million in potential add-ons, has been agreed between the clubs, and the player is expected to sign a four-year contract.

Ederson's transfer was delayed pending Brazil's participation in the World Cup, but the Selecao were eliminated by Norway in the round of 16—their earliest exit since 1990—prompting United to accelerate the process. According to TEAMtalk, the 25-year-old will fly to England this week to undergo a medical and finalise the move.

Midfield Reinforcements

Ederson is expected to be the first of at least two midfield arrivals at Old Trafford this summer. Italy legend Andrea Pirlo praised the player, stating: 'He is a player good for the Premier League. He is a dynamic runner and intense, a player that can adapt really well there.'

United had previously targeted Mateus Fernandes and Sandro Tonali, but both opted to join Tottenham Hotspur, with new manager Roberto De Zerbi securing the duo for a combined £185 million. As a result, manager Michael Carrick has turned to alternative targets, including Chelsea's Andrey Santos, Bournemouth's Alex Scott, and Real Madrid's Aurelien Tchouameni.

Further Targets

Santos is reportedly open to leaving Chelsea in search of regular first-team minutes, with Newcastle United also expressing interest. Meanwhile, United are preparing an ambitious move for Tchouameni, whom the club has long admired. Sources indicate that talks with Real Madrid could begin in the coming days, though the Spanish side is reluctant to sell and would demand at least €100 million (£85 million). Another option is Borussia Dortmund's Felix Nmecha, valued at around €120 million (£103 million).

The early confirmation of Ederson's arrival marks a significant step in United's rebuilding efforts under Carrick, as they look to strengthen their midfield ahead of the new season.
