Manchester United's bid to sign Crysencio Summerville has received a significant boost, with West Ham reportedly turning their attention to Leicester City's Abdul Fatawu as a potential replacement. Both Summerville and Jarrod Bowen have been heavily linked with moves following West Ham's relegation to the Championship.
Summerville's Standout Season
The Dutch winger was a rare bright spot in an otherwise disappointing West Ham campaign during the 2025/26 season, contributing five goals and four assists. Those numbers, achieved in a struggling side, have attracted interest from several top European clubs, including Manchester United, AC Milan, Paris Saint-Germain, Arsenal, and Roma.
West Ham are reportedly demanding around £50 million for Summerville's departure. However, the Hammers are keen to secure a suitable replacement before sanctioning any sale, and Abdul Fatawu has emerged as their primary target.
Fatawu's Situation at Leicester
Leicester City, who suffered relegation to League One, may find it difficult to retain their star players. The 22-year-old Ghanaian winger scored nine goals and provided eight assists last season, catching the eye of several clubs. Although he is under contract until 2029, Leicester's financial situation could force a sale, with reports suggesting they would entertain bids between £15 million and £20 million.
Such a fee would be comfortably covered by the proceeds from Summerville's potential sale, leaving West Ham with funds to strengthen further as they target an immediate Premier League return. Everton, RB Leipzig, and Besiktas have also shown interest in Fatawu.
Other United Targets
Summerville is not the only West Ham player Manchester United are pursuing. The Red Devils have reportedly agreed personal terms with midfielder Mateus Fernandes, though West Ham are holding out for a fee of £85 million. Should that deal fall through, Tottenham Hotspur have registered their interest as part of a significant squad rebuild under manager Roberto De Zerbi.
