Royal Mail has issued a significant service update, warning residents in 44 specific UK postcodes that their mail deliveries will not arrive on time. The national letter and parcel delivery firm, which typically aims to deliver to all addresses six days a week, has acknowledged widespread delays affecting its network.
Service Disruptions Across the UK
In an official statement, Royal Mail explained that temporary issues at local delivery offices are causing the disruptions. "We aim to deliver to all addresses we have mail for, six days a week," the company said. "In a small number of local offices, this may temporarily not be possible due to local issues such as high levels of sick absence, resourcing, or other local factors."
The company has implemented a rotation system for deliveries in affected areas to minimize delays for individual customers. Additionally, Royal Mail is providing targeted support to these offices to address challenges and restore normal service standards.
Affected Delivery Offices and Postcodes
As of Tuesday, 24 February 2026, 18 Royal Mail delivery offices across the United Kingdom are experiencing operational issues. These offices span from Wales to Scotland and Northern Ireland to England, including locations in Cardiff, Pontefract, Lochgelly, and Lisburn.
The delays at these delivery offices directly impact 44 UK postcodes. The affected areas include:
- Ashington DO (NE22, NE62, NE63, NE64)
- Banbridge DO (BT32)
- Beverley DO (HU11, HU17, HU18)

Transport Network Issues
While Royal Mail's air network has operated on schedule over the past 24 hours, the road network has encountered specific problems. The company reported that "last night a vehicle was late departing the Midlands Parcel Hub for Preston and Glasgow Mail Centres."
This transportation delay means that mail destined for the BB, FY, LA, PR, G, KA, ML, and PA postcode areas may arrive later than originally planned. Furthermore, the Bristol Mail Centre experienced issues with mail posted in parts of the BA, BS, GL, and TA postcode areas that was intended for delivery across other UK regions.
Customer Communication and Apology
Royal Mail updates customers daily about potential delays through its service alerts. The company has expressed regret for the inconvenience caused by these disruptions. "We're sorry for any inconvenience and thank you for your understanding," the statement concluded.
Customers in the affected postcodes are advised to expect delayed deliveries while Royal Mail works to resolve the local office issues and transportation challenges. The company emphasizes that these measures are temporary and that normal service levels will be restored as soon as possible.
