Long-Term Roadworks Expected to Cause Delays Until 2027
Roadworks are taking place on key A roads across nearly every area of Greater Manchester, with one route facing 'expect delays' signs until December 2027. The A57 Mottram Moor eastbound in Tameside has one lane closed due to long-term roadworks from Stalybridge Road to A6018 Back Moor, with delays expected until 31st December 2027.
Street works can be carried out for a number of reasons including changes being made to a road, emergency repairs, as well as work by utility companies. However, a 2025 parliamentary transport committee report stated: 'They can also be a source of frustration for anyone trying to get around on roads and pavements by causing congestion and delays that harm the economy, disrupt transport services and limit access to high streets and businesses.'
