The E19 service from Edinburgh-based all-electric coach operator Ember will commence on Wednesday, July 1, providing a 20-minute frequency link between Edinburgh Airport and Livingston.
Route details and variations
The exact route will alternate between two variations, stopping in Uphall, Broxburn, Mid Calder, East Calder, Calderwood, Wilkieston and Ratho every 40 minutes - every second bus will serve each of these stops.
The first variation stops at Ingliston Park and Ride, Newbridge, Ratho, Wilkieston, Calderwood, East Calder, Mid Calder and Livingston Bus Terminal.
The second stops at Ingliston Park and Ride, Ratho Station, Newbridge, Broxburn, Uphall, the A899 Fastlinks, St John's Hospital and Livingston Bus Terminal.
Ticket prices and booking
When booked online, an adult single costs £4.45 for a journey between Livingston Bus Terminal and Edinburgh Airport. Tickets can be bought on board, but cost more than the online price. The operator added that there are no hidden booking fees for valid concession card holders, and well-behaved pets are very welcome.
Each bus also has space for two bikes, but it is recommended that cyclists book a bike space in advance to guarantee a spot.
Service frequency and background
Ember runs seven days a week, including public holidays. The company began running its first route - between Edinburgh and Dundee - in 2020. Founders Keith Bradbury and Pierce Glennie launched Ember the previous year as the world's first all-electric intercity bus operator.
