Emergency services are conducting a search operation at Meynell Lake in Syston, Leicestershire, after a teenage boy was reported to have entered the water on Thursday afternoon.
Call to Emergency Services
Police were called to the lake, located near Syston Sailing Club on Fosse Way, shortly after 1:30pm on 25 June. Multiple emergency services have been deployed, including Leicestershire Police, Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service, and ambulance crews.
Three search teams have been working from boats on the lake, which is used for boating and angling. An ambulance has also been spotted in the area, and a vehicle from the Leicestershire Police Federation arrived at the scene in the evening.
Police Statement
A Leicestershire Police spokesperson said: "Emergency services are currently carrying out searches in Syston to locate a teenage boy who was reported to have entered a lake. Police were called to Meynell Lake, in Fosse Way just after 1.30pm today (Thursday 25 June). Officers are currently in attendance with colleagues from Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service. Searches are being carried out to locate the boy and officers are in contact with his next of kin."
The search operation continues as authorities work to locate the missing teenager.
