Disturbing details have emerged at Warwick Crown Court where two Afghan nationals stand accused of targeting and brutally assaulting a 12-year-old schoolgirl in Nuneaton, Warwickshire. The court heard how Ahmad Mulakhil, 23, and Mohammad Kabir, 24, allegedly preyed upon the young victim in a series of events that culminated in multiple sexual assaults.
Chilling CCTV Footage Presented in Court
Jurors were shown surveillance footage capturing the moments leading up to the alleged attack. The video evidence reveals Mulakhil approaching the girl in the street and asking her age, suggesting numbers including "Twenty? Nineteen? Sixteen?" before she reportedly responded "nineteen." Further footage shows both defendants leaving a park within thirty seconds of the victim and walking along residential streets together.
Alleged Sequence of Events
According to prosecution evidence presented by Daniel Oscroft, the ordeal began when Kabir allegedly approached the girl in a playground, placed his hands around her neck, and attempted to strangle her while trying to force her to accompany him. In a videotaped statement, the victim described thinking she would die because she couldn't breathe during this initial encounter.
The court heard that despite escaping Kabir's initial approach, the girl later encountered Mulakhil on a nearby housing estate. She described how he used a translation app on his phone before allegedly leading her to a secluded cul-de-sac called Cheverel Place, where the sexual assaults are said to have occurred.
Victim's Harrowing Testimony
The young victim provided detailed accounts of the alleged attacks, telling the court she repeatedly told Mulakhil to stop and reminded him she was just a child. She described him laughing during the assaults and threatening to kill her family. Most disturbingly, she recounted how he took photographs during the attacks, leaving her confused about why he would document such violence.
Two adult witnesses who cannot be named for legal reasons discovered the girl in a "petrified" state on the street afterward. They described her as "very frantic" and constantly looking over her shoulder, fearing her attackers would return. The witnesses reported seeing a love-bite on her neck and hearing her say "He raped me" while explaining that her back hurt from being "ragged" around.
Physical Evidence and Denials
Forensic evidence presented to the court included Mulakhil's DNA found on the victim's neck and inside her shorts. Investigators also discovered indecent images on his mobile phone along with non-indecent videos showing him with the girl. Additional CCTV footage showed Mulakhil entering a corner shop with the victim after the alleged attacks to purchase two cans of Red Bull.
Despite this evidence, Mulakhil has denied most charges, claiming any sexual activity was consensual and initiated by the girl. He has, however, admitted to one count of oral rape. Both defendants, described as having no fixed abode, have entered not guilty pleas to multiple charges including abduction, sexual assault, and taking indecent photographs of a child.
Prosecution's Case
Prosecutor Daniel Oscroft told the jury of seven men and five women that both men deliberately targeted the 12-year-old victim. He suggested Kabir's attempted abduction could only have had sexual purposes, while Mulakhil allegedly remained in the area for hours before meeting the girl and leading her to the secluded location where the rapes occurred.
The court heard how the victim told witnesses she believed the men were safe because they were adults, highlighting her vulnerability. She also reported that Mulakhil had wanted her to get into a BMW and be taken to Birmingham and London for further assaults.
The trial continues at Warwick Crown Court as more evidence is presented in this deeply disturbing case that has shocked the Nuneaton community and raised serious questions about child protection and predatory behavior.
