Police have launched a murder investigation after a 19-year-old woman was fatally shot in north London in the early hours of Monday morning.
Officers from the Metropolitan Police were called to reports of gunshots at a house on Dale Grove in Finchley at approximately 12:15 AM. Despite immediate efforts by police and paramedics from the London Ambulance Service, the young woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
No arrests have been made so far, and detectives are working to piece together the events leading up to the tragic incident. The woman's family has been informed and is receiving support from specially trained officers.
Community Reaction
Local residents expressed shock and disbelief. One woman, who has lived on Hutton Grove, adjacent to Dale Grove, for over 40 years, said she had never witnessed such trouble in the area. She mentioned being awake around midnight but hearing no gunshots. Another resident, living just yards from the scene, also reported hearing nothing unusual.
The police cordon remains in place as investigations continue.

Detective Chief Inspector Allam Bhangoo, leading the investigation, stated: "Our thoughts are with the young woman's family at this incredibly difficult time as they begin to come to terms with their loss. We understand the concern this incident will cause within the community. While our enquiries are ongoing, residents can expect to see an increased police presence over the coming days, and I encourage anyone with concerns to speak with officers."
He added: "If you have any information that could assist our investigation – including any doorbell or dashcam footage from around midnight in or near to Dale Grove – please contact police via 101, quoting reference 34/8JUN. You can also provide information anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
A formal identification and post-mortem examination will take place in due course.
