Charges Filed in Hackney Murder Case

Four men and a 16-year-old boy have been charged in connection with the fatal shooting of Erdal Ozmen, 45, in Hackney. The charges were announced on Thursday July 2, following arrests made on Wednesday July 1.

Mr Ozmen was shot on Dynevor Road in the early hours of Tuesday August 5, 2025. Police responded to reports of gunshots at approximately 12:20am and found Mr Ozmen. Despite emergency services' efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Witness Account

Liza Dodds, 58, a youth worker who lives opposite Dynevor Road, told the BBC: "My husband woke up and said there was gunshots. The instant reaction was, 'How do you know?' We both got up and had a look. A police officer was doing CPR where the person fell. It seemed like they were going forever."

Details of Charges

Sebastian Baah Achemfour, 19, has been charged with murder and possession of a firearm. Omar Mohammed, 22, faces charges of murder, possession of a firearm, and perverting the course of justice. Kalel Chen-Miller, 23, and Darian Thompson-Cox, 28, have each been charged with perverting the course of justice. A 16-year-old boy, who cannot be named due to his age, has also been charged with perverting the course of justice.

Ongoing Support for Family

Mr Ozmen's family continue to be supported by specialist officers. The investigation remains ongoing.
