Nuneaton Court Hears Disturbing Details of Alleged Child Rape and Strangulation

A harrowing case unfolding at a Warwickshire court has heard how a 12-year-old girl was allegedly targeted by two men in Nuneaton, with one defendant accused of strangling her before the other committed multiple sexual offences in a secluded residential area.

Prosecution Outlines Alleged Sequence of Events

Opening the Crown's case on Thursday, prosecutor Daniel Oscroft told a jury of seven men and five women that the alleged offences occurred during a light summer evening on Tuesday, 22nd July 2025. The court heard that Mohammad Kabir, 24, allegedly approached the girl as she played in a park around 6pm, grabbing her by the neck in what prosecutors describe as intentional strangulation.

"Mohammad Kabir did so by trying to get her to come with him – which is the attempted abduction of a child – and also grabbing her by the neck, strangling her," Mr Oscroft told the court. "This is a legal definition, it doesn't necessarily mean he choked her."

Allegations Against Second Defendant

The prosecution alleges that while the girl managed to avoid being taken away by Kabir, the other defendant, Ahmad Mulakhil, 23, remained in the area and later met her around 8pm. According to the prosecution, Mulakhil then led the girl to Cheverel Place, a secluded cul-de-sac, where he is accused of committing multiple sexual offences.

"He talked to her and led her away to a secluded cul-de-sac, Cheverel Place, where he raped her, sexually assaulted her and took indecent images of her," Mr Oscroft stated. "He is charged with child abduction, vaginal and anal rape, counts of sexual assault and making indecent images of a child."

Forensic Evidence Presented to Jury

The court heard that Mulakhil's phone was seized following his arrest, with investigators finding indecent images and photographs showing both defendants together, confirming their acquaintance. Prosecutors also revealed that Mulakhil's DNA was allegedly found on the girl's neck and inside her clothing.

Mr Oscroft described the complainant as "very young and vulnerable" and alleged she was forced to engage in sexual acts. The girl reportedly made disclosures to adults she knew on the same night, claiming she had also been "smacked and pulled."

Defendants' Responses to Allegations

When interviewed by police, Kabir provided a prepared statement denying all allegations. However, when confronted with CCTV footage, phone evidence, and images placing him with Mulakhil on multiple days – including the day after the alleged offences – Kabir initially denied but ultimately accepted appearing in some footage, while still declining to provide any explanation.

Mulakhil, who has pleaded guilty to a charge of oral rape of the 12-year-old, denied other charges including child abduction, two counts of rape, two counts of sexual assault, and taking indecent photographs of a child. In his police interview, he claimed he had only engaged in consensual oral sex.

"He repeatedly insisted that the girl followed him voluntarily, denying that he ever forced, threatened, tricked or restrained her," Mr Oscroft said of Mulakhil's account. "He said he did not ask her age, claiming his friend told him she was 19 and that he believed she looked in her twenties."

Age Claim Dismissed by Prosecution

The court heard that during her interaction with Mulakhil, the girl claimed to be 19 years old. However, Mr Oscroft told jurors this was "such an obvious lie" that it was clear from Mulakhil's reaction that he did not believe her. Both defendants were assisted by interpreters during proceedings, with Mulakhil reportedly describing communication difficulties due to language barriers and claiming most interaction occurred through body language.

Kabir denies intentional strangulation, committing an offence with intent to commit a sexual offence, and attempting to take a child. Mulakhil, of no fixed abode, denies child abduction, two counts of rape, two counts of sexual assault, and taking indecent photographs of a child.

The trial continues with both defendants maintaining their innocence against the serious allegations presented by the prosecution.
