Armed Police Arrest Suspect Hiding in Wheelie Bin After Thermal Imaging Guide

Armed police in Exeter, Devon, arrested a suspect who was hiding in a wheelie bin, guided by the National Police Air Service's thermal imaging camera. The helicopter crew spotted the bin glowing hot on the thermal image, indicating the suspect's body heat.

Officers on the ground were directed to the bin via radio, with the helicopter crew saying: 'Your fifth wheelie bin on the left is glowing hot like a Christmas tree.' Police then surrounded the bin and flipped the lid, finding the suspect crouched inside.

The suspect stood up and was dragged out of the bin before being detained. The National Police Air Service South West praised the teamwork with Devon and Cornwall Police, resulting in the suspect being taken into custody.
