British Transport Police have released an image of a man they wish to speak to in connection with an alleged sexual assault on a London Underground train. The incident took place on a Northern line service towards Tufnell Park during the evening rush hour.
Rush-Hour Assault on Northern Line
The victim, a woman, boarded a Northern line train at approximately 5:30pm on April 23. She stood near the doors when she was allegedly sexually assaulted by a man. The offender then alighted the train at Tufnell Park station.
Police officers have now released a CCTV image of a man who they believe may have crucial information to assist their investigation. According to the British Transport Police, the man is not a suspect but is considered a potential witness.
Appeal for Information
Anyone who recognises the man in the image is urged to contact British Transport Police by texting 61016 or calling 0800 40 50 40, quoting reference 491 of 23 April. Information can also be provided anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
Rising Sexual Offences on the Tube
This appeal comes as data published in December shows that reported sexual offences on the London Underground reached a five-year high. A total of 595 offences were reported across all lines in 2024-25, the highest since 776 reports in 2019-20.
