A mum-of-three has been remembered for her 'kindness, strength and love' after she was found dead at a home in Hawick. The body of Stacey Hogg, 35, was discovered at the McLagan Drive property on the morning of Thursday, June 25, 2026.
Murder charge and court appearance
Police Scotland confirmed the death was being treated as suspicious on Friday. Later that day, Lee Inglis, 39, appeared at Selkirk Sheriff Court charged with murder. He made no plea and was remanded in custody while the case was committed for further examination. He is due to appear in court again within the next eight days.
Fundraising appeal for funeral and children
An appeal set up by Stacey's brother, Arran Hogg, has raised more than £36,000 to help cover funeral costs, with any remaining money set aside to support Stacey's three sons: Leyton, Lewis and Brodie. In an emotional tribute, Arran wrote: 'It is with broken hearts that we are raising funds following the tragic and devastating loss of our beloved Stacey. She was a sister, a daughter, a mother and a friend who was taken from us far too soon.'
He added: 'She leaves behind three beautiful children, Leyton, Lewis and Brodie, who were the centre of her world. She was a cherished daughter to Lesley and James, an amazing sister to Ryan and Arran, and a loyal friend who touched the lives of so many. Her kindness, strength and love will never be forgotten, and she will be deeply missed by everyone who knew her.'
Tributes from friends and police statement
Friend Donna Smith described Stacey as an 'amazing woman' in a social media post: 'My heart is broken. You were the best and an amazing woman. I will miss your smile and our chats. You were taken far too soon. Sending my love to her mum and dad and brothers and to her kids who were her life, she did everything for them. Miss you Stacey hen, always. I won’t forget you, sleep tight hen.'
