Lauren Murgatroyd, 26, and Liam Neve, 26, have been charged with murder following the death of an eight-week-old baby in Lincolnshire nearly three years ago. The charges come after what police describe as a "complex and large-scale investigation."

Murgatroyd, of Novak Place, Morecambe, and Neve, of Spinney Close, Grimoldby, Louth, were both charged with murder on Tuesday night, June 23, 2026. In addition, Murgatroyd faces charges of making a false statement concerning birth, causing or allowing the death of a child, two counts of Section 18 grievous bodily harm, and two counts of causing or allowing a child to suffer serious physical harm. Neve faces the same charges, along with two counts of actual bodily harm (ABH).

Police were called to an address in Bourne, Lincolnshire, on October 31, 2023, where the eight-week-old baby was found. The infant was taken to hospital but tragically died. The investigation has been ongoing since that date.

A statement from Lincolnshire Police confirmed: "Last night (23 June 2026), two people were charged with murder after the death of an 8-week-old baby in 2023. Liam Neve, aged 26, of Spinney Close, Grimoldby, Louth, and 26-year-old Lauren Murgatroyd, of Novak Place, Morecambe, Lancashire, have both been charged with murder, and several other offences following the incident."
