A former American reality television star, who once claimed to have had a romantic relationship with Prince Harry, has been arrested on the Spanish island of Majorca following allegations she left a hotel without settling a substantial bill.
Arrest and Allegations in Santa Ponsa
Catherine Ommanney, 53, was detained by the Civil Guard on Sunday afternoon on suspicion of fraud. The arrest came after the manager of the three-star Playas del Rey Hotel in Santa Ponsa, near Magaluf, reported that a guest had departed without paying. The bill in question totalled more than £434 for a nine-day stay between January 2 and 11.
Police sources confirmed the arrest, and Ommanney was taken before a judge in a closed hearing in Palma, the island's capital, on Sunday evening. She was later released on bail pending further investigation into the matter.
"It's All Bulls**t": Star's Firm Denial
Following her court appearance, the interior designer and former cast member of "The Real Housewives of DC" vehemently denied any wrongdoing. Speaking to the press, Ommanney declared, "It's all bulls**t. The bill was paid."
She elaborated, stating she possessed proof of full payment and blamed a "technical error on the hotel's behalf." Ommanney added that she intended to seek an apology through the justice system. Her lawyer, when contacted, declined to comment on the ongoing case.
However, reports from the local newspaper Ultima Hora suggested Ommanney had reserved her stay using a card that allegedly had no funds available.
Past Claims of Royal Romance Resurface
The arrest has thrust Ommanney back into the spotlight, reviving her previous claims of a two-month fling with Prince Harry in 2006. She first publicly discussed the alleged relationship in November 2022, telling The Sun on Sunday that she met the then-21-year-old prince in a bar when she was 34.
Describing him as a "great kisser" and a "total gentleman," Ommanney said she believed Harry appreciated her older, wiser company compared to his usual peers. She claimed the relationship fizzled out after a few meetings, though they were reportedly "friendly" upon meeting again at a polo match in 2009.
A spokesman for the Civil Guard formally confirmed the arrest of a 53-year-old British woman on fraud allegations. The hotel reception stated the manager was unavailable for comment on the day following the incident.
