London Muslim Woman Struck by Car in Suspected Targeted Attack
Outrage has erupted across London after a Muslim woman was violently struck by a speeding car in what multiple witnesses believe may have been a deliberate and targeted attack. The incident, captured on horrific CCTV footage, occurred in broad daylight on Harrow Manorway in Abbey Wood, south-east London.
Details of the Violent Incident
The victim, a woman in her 20s, was attempting to get into a parked vehicle when a red car whipped around a corner and suddenly swerved directly towards her. The vehicle slammed into the woman from behind with such tremendous force that she was flung violently across the road. Shockingly, the driver did not stop or slow down, continuing to drive away from the scene without offering any assistance.
Residents who rushed to the woman's aid immediately reported that the driver's actions appeared purposeful and intentional, fueling significant community fears that this was a hate-motivated crime targeting the victim because of her Muslim faith. The street is typically described as a busy area full of families and children, making the violent nature of the attack even more alarming to local inhabitants.
Police Investigation and Community Response
The Metropolitan Police have confirmed that a full investigation is now actively underway to identify and locate the driver responsible for this appalling act. Officers were initially alerted to the incident by the London Ambulance Service at approximately 6:30 PM on Sunday, March 8.
In an official statement, the Met Police sought to reassure the concerned local community, stating: "We realise the concern this incident will cause the local community and want to reassure that detectives are working at pace to identify the suspect. Enquiries are ongoing, and we are keeping an open mind about any possible motive at this stage." The police have urged anyone with information to contact them immediately, quoting reference CAD4804/8Mar.
Despite the severity of the impact, the victim's condition was later assessed as non life-threatening or life-changing. She was treated at the scene by emergency medical crews before being rushed to a nearby hospital as a priority. She has since been discharged from medical care. As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with the attack.
Emergency Services and Witness Accounts
A spokesperson for the London Ambulance Service detailed their rapid response, noting that crews were dispatched to a reported road traffic collision at around 4:30 PM on Sunday. "We sent an ambulance crew, an incident response officer, and a paramedic in a fast response car to the scene. Our first crews arrived in less than five minutes," the spokesperson confirmed. "We treated a woman at the scene and took her to hospital as a priority."
Local residents expressed profound shock and horror, with one individual telling the Daily Mail: "That poor woman looks like she was targeted. It's appalling. The driver did not stop. How on earth did that happen? The whole street is in shock. It's full of families and children." The circulating CCTV footage has amplified public outcry, highlighting the brutal and seemingly intentional nature of the collision.
The investigation continues as authorities work to determine the precise motive and apprehend the driver involved in this disturbing event.
