Greater Manchester Police (GMP) are searching for Nathan Muir, a 32-year-old man wanted on recall to prison, after he allegedly posted a topless selfie in the comments section of the force's own Facebook appeal. The post, which appeared under a profile named 'Nay Muir', featured the caption: 'Could of done a better pic.'
Police Appeal and Suspect's Response
On Friday, June 26, officers from GMP's Wythenshawe division issued a public appeal for help in locating Muir, who has links to Wythenshawe, Hale, and Altrincham but is of no fixed address. The original post included Muir's mug shot and urged anyone with information to contact police via 101 or 0161 856 1748.
Shortly after the appeal was published, a Facebook profile believed to belong to Muir responded with a topless selfie, accompanied by a comment criticizing the quality of his official mug shot. The post quickly garnered hundreds of 'likes' from social media users.
Subsequent AI-Generated Images
Following the selfie, additional AI-generated images of Muir appeared in the comments, depicting him drinking a pint and sunbathing outside Wythenshawe police station. These images were likely created by other users as humorous responses to the situation.
Muir, born on September 23, 1994, is wanted on recall to prison for reasons not specified in the police statement. Authorities continue to urge the public to provide any information that could lead to his arrest.
