Baby Hospitalised After M50 Crash, Woman Held for Drink Driving

A newborn baby, just eight days old, has been taken to hospital following a serious road traffic collision on the M50 in Gloucestershire. The incident occurred early on Monday morning when a Peugeot 308 crashed into the nearside barrier between junctions 1 and 2, causing the vehicle to flip onto its roof.

Arrest Made After Crash

Police have arrested a 37-year-old woman on suspicion of driving while under the influence of alcohol. The driver, a woman in her 30s, was taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital for treatment. The eight-day-old infant was rushed to Birmingham Children’s Hospital for medical care.

Traffic Disruption and Investigation

The crash caused significant delays for motorists, with one lane of the M50 eastbound remaining closed for barrier repairs. Emergency services attended the scene, and traffic was at a standstill for several hours while accident recovery and police investigation work was carried out.
