Authorities in South Korea have confirmed the discovery of the body of an 11-year-old boy who went missing from Juwangsan National Park over the weekend. The tragic incident unfolded after the boy, a sixth-grade student from Daegu, vanished while hiking with his family.
Discovery Near the Summit
The boy's remains were located on Tuesday, approximately 100 metres from the mountain peak. Officials believe he likely died after falling from a height. The search operation, which spanned three days, involved more than 350 personnel combing the rugged terrain.
Circumstances of the Disappearance
The boy had travelled to the national park with his parents from the city of Daegu. According to reports, he expressed a desire to climb a bit further and ventured off alone. When he failed to return, his parents alerted park authorities, prompting a large-scale search.
An investigation is now underway to determine the exact cause and circumstances of the fall. Authorities have not ruled out any factors, including weather conditions or terrain difficulties, that may have contributed to the accident.
The local community and the boy's school have expressed deep sorrow over the loss. The family has requested privacy as they mourn their child.
