Bridgerton star Genevieve Chenneour has said she will not move back to London after being assaulted for the second time in less than a year. The 27-year-old actress, who plays Clara Livingston in the Netflix period drama, was attacked near Oxford Street on 20 November while on her way to an audition.
In a video shared on Instagram shortly after the incident, Chenneour described how a man 'locked onto' her and struck her with 'full force'. She said she tried to move out of his path but could not, and that after the blow he walked off without reacting to her shouting. The former Team GB swimmer said the attack triggered a panic attack, and she later phoned a friend for emotional support before attending her audition.
This follows a separate incident in February at a coffee shop in Kensington, where Chenneour confronted a thief who attempted to snatch her phone. The suspect, Zacariah Boulares, is serving a 22-month sentence, but his accomplice, who threatened to stab her, remains at large. The Metropolitan Police confirmed a 19-year-old man was investigated but no action was taken.
Chenneour told the Daily Mail she had been preparing to move back to London for work but has now changed her mind, saying she does not believe the city is safe. She has been struggling with agoraphobia since the February attack and has been living with her mother.
