A British tourist has tragically died after falling through a glass door in Majorca. The 26-year-old's lifeless body was discovered by police at a rented house in Santa Margalida, located in the northern part of the holiday island, at approximately 7:30 am local time. He was found with shards of glass from the door embedded in his head.
Investigation Underway
Authorities have already questioned several other individuals present at the house, including four men and two women. Their nationalities have not yet been disclosed to the public. According to reports, they told police that they had been out partying and continued consuming drugs and alcohol after returning to the property in the early hours of the morning.
A well-placed police source stated: 'We are focusing on the theory that the victim died in a tragic accident after hitting his head against the glass door, but it is still too early to say definitely what happened.' No arrests have been made so far.
Autopsy and Ongoing Investigation
An autopsy is scheduled to take place in the coming hours in Palma, the capital of Majorca. The ongoing investigation is being led by the Civil Guard. Santa Margalida is a municipality and historic agricultural town in northern Majorca, situated a short distance from locations such as the Bay of Alcudia and approximately 30 miles from Palma Airport.
Recent Incident on Costa del Sol
In a separate incident, it emerged yesterday that a missing British man had been found dead on a Costa del Sol beach. Police, coastguards, and Red Cross officials had been searching for the 25-year-old for nearly three days after a young man described as a 'foreigner' was seen entering the sea at Misericordia Beach in Malaga. The alarm was raised late last Wednesday just before 10:30 pm after he failed to exit the water.
A man's body was discovered at the neighbouring Huelin Beach early on Saturday morning, lying on the sand and out of the water. It was not immediately clear if he was the same person feared missing. However, yesterday police sources confirmed that the body was that of the man seen entering the sea and revealed he was a British national. It remains unclear if he drowned or died of other causes, and the results of the autopsy, which will be sent to an investigating magistrate at a local court, are unlikely to be made public.
A spokesman for Spain's National Police confirmed that the unnamed man's death is not being treated as suspicious, stating: 'The person found dead is the same one who went missing three days earlier. There is nothing pointing to any evidence of criminality.'
